CARES/COVID Grant Funds
On March 27, 2020, the federal government enacted the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (鈥淐ARES Act鈥) to provide resources for higher education institutions, like 色界吧. These funds were granted to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our students and our college. The CARES Act distributed funds from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (鈥淗EERF鈥), and also in Southwestern College's case, included a Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) allocation.
The CARES Act requires institutions to use no less than 50 percent of the 2020 HEERF allocation to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student鈥檚 cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care). For information on the student aid portion of CARES funds, please visit the Student Emergency Funds page under Financial Aid.
色界吧 accepted the funding and submitted the Certification and Agreement form on June 2, 2020. In accordance with the CARES Act, we are required to summarize the use of the institutional portion of the HEERF I, II, III funds through quarterly reports, which are posted below.
