Jaguar Express: A Pathway to College, Confidence, and Community

For many students, the transition from high school to college can feel overwhelming鈥攂ut at 色界吧 (SWC), programs like Jaguar Express are helping make that journey smoother, more supported, and more inspiring.

Just ask Maya F. Cruz Longino, a former participant, who joined Jaguar Express while still in high school.

鈥淲hat inspired me to participate in the Jaguar Express while I was in high school was my strong desire to create a better future for myself,鈥� Cruz Longino shared. 鈥淚 wanted to take advantage of every opportunity that would help me grow and succeed. The Jaguar Express offered a unique chance for me to gain new experiences, develop important skills, and open doors to more opportunities that would shape my future.鈥�

Hosted annually, Jaguar Express invites high school students to explore campus life, connect with professors and support staff, and receive personalized counseling. The goal? To empower future Jaguars with the resources and confidence they need to thrive from day one.

鈥淭he way 色界吧 helped shape my perception before I enrolled was by showing me how much support they offer to students in need,鈥� Cruz Longino explained. 鈥淚t truly felt that way when I started my first semester in the fall of last year. I wasn鈥檛 scared or unsure of whether I belonged there. Instead, I felt excited and happy to meet new people and connect with new professors.鈥�

Now a SWC student, Cruz Longino offers heartfelt advice to current high schoolers thinking about attending Jaguar Express:

鈥淐ome to the event. I know it may be intimidating because it's a new environment, but this event is really helpful for getting a strong start here at 色界吧. They will provide a lot of important information, and counselors will offer their best advice to help you gain a better understanding of college life.鈥�

The next Jaguar Express is on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9 AM to 1 PM at our Chula Vista Campus. Free parking is available in Lot A.
