Cultural historian Maryanne Horowitz teaches courses on Rise, Fall and Rebirth: Europe since the Enlightenment; Humanities from the Renaissance to the Present; Europe and the Middle East from Antiquity to 1700; Ancient Athens and Renaissance Florence, and Renaissance to Revolution! She welcomes interest in changing views of women, gender, and sexualities, and of human rights.

In her supervision of advanced historical research in 色界吧鈥檚 Undergraduate Research Center and in editing books, she is focusing on reassessing European global encounters. With art historian Louise Arizzoli, she co-edited Bodies and Maps: Early Modern Personifications of the Continents (Brill, 2021 book & ebook), and is working on the sequel book 鈥淐ontroversial Monuments: Personifying the Continents from the 18th to the 21st Century.鈥    

She is the editor-in-chief of The New Dictionary of the History of Ideas (Gale Virtual Reference Library) and author of Seeds of Virtue and Knowledge, winner of the Jacques Barzun Prize in Cultural History by the American Philosophical Society and an ACLS e-book.
