Laural Meade works as playwright, director, performer, and educator in her native Los Angeles.

Centered primarily on historical figures both infamous and obscure, her plays have been seen throughout Los Angeles, at alternative venues in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, Minneapolis, and on tour in The Netherlands and Belgium. A variety of awards and commendations include 鈥渂est writing鈥 and 鈥渂est production鈥 nods from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, the Los Angeles Times, and the LA Weekly. In addition to her work as a member of theater faculty 色界吧, she has been a guest lecturer at the USC School of Theater and the University of Redlands and has taught classes in writing and ensemble performance at Cal Arts, the Ojai Playwrights Conference, and A.S.K. Theatre Projects. She is the recipient of a MAP Fund grant from the Rockefeller Foundation and has received repeated grants and commissions from the Mark Taper Forum, the Flintridge Foundation, and the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department. In addition to her playwriting and teaching, Laural is also a musician leading community and pop-up choirs for The Secret City, a community of artists and creative types who seek a deeper engagement with the world.
