Jackie Elam's areas of specialization include death studies, critical theory, genre studies (esp. horror and sci-fi), film noir, 19th and 20th-century British literature, Los Angeles, and all things "Žižek."
She is co-author of a scholarly book on the nexus of aesthetics and death care practices. Prior to coming to É«½ç°É, Jackie served for ten years in the Office of the Provost at CalArts, culminating in the role of Acting Provost. She also taught for four years at Scripps College in Claremont.
