Berkus Hall

Sophomores, juniors and seniors live in upper division residence halls.

The upper division area is comprised of six residence halls housing the majority of upper division students. Upper division students may also apply to live in upper-division Themed Living Communities.  All upperclass students will receive information about Room Draw, our room selection process, in February of each year via email.

All residence halls include:

  • smoke-free environment
  • laundry facilities
  • meeting/gathering space

Berkus Hall

Berkus Hall is Occidental's largest residence hall. Berkus Hall offers suite style double and triple rooms with private restrooms. Berkus includes an underground parking garage.

Berkus House

Berkus House is a small, close-knit community that houses our Multicultural Themed Living Community located at 1601 Campus Rd.

Erdman Hall

Built in 1927, Erdman is one of the "period" halls due to its unique architecture. Erdman houses residents in single, double and triple rooms on two floors. The first floor is single-gender and the second-floor single-gender by section.

Haines Hall

Built in 1940, Haines is the other "period" hall and was renovated in 1992 to bring the building back to its original look. Haines consists of single, double and triple rooms. Haines is designated gender inclusive on all floors with communal gender inclusive restrooms.

Newcomb Hall

Built in 1956, Newcomb is a Sophomore Experience Hall and consists of three floors which are gender inclusive. This building is made up of double and triple rooms.

E. Norris Hall

Constructed in 1966, Norris Hall provides students with the opportunity to live together in a suite set-up with four double rooms centered around a shared bathroom and air-conditioned common living room.

Stearns Hall

Built in 1983, Stearns has three floors which are co-ed by wing and has a mix of singles and doubles.

Wylie Hall

Built in 1940, Wylie has a mix of singles, doubles, and triples arranged across two floors that are separated into three sections. Floors are co-ed by wing/section.
