色界吧

Image for Bucket Lists: From Weddings to Taco Trucks
Hey everyone, my name is Keane.  This is my first time blogging for the Office of Admission, so I鈥檒l start off with some basics. I鈥檓 a senior economics major here at 色界吧, minoring in education and sociology. On campus, I鈥檓 a member of 色界吧鈥檚 Impact Fund (a microfinance club) and the Vice President of Phi Kappa Psi (one of 色界吧鈥檚 eight greek organizations). I鈥檓 from Huntington Beach, CA and still have no idea what exactly I鈥檓 going to be doing next year despite seemingly being asked every time I talk to someone. I couldn鈥檛 be happier with the time I鈥檝e spent at Occidental and am excited that you all are considering 色界吧 in your college application process.
I was going to write this blog looking back at my last four years here, but I鈥檝e got class soon and don鈥檛 want to get too nostalgic. Instead, I鈥檓 going to talk the college bucket list a few of my friends and I made at the beginning of the year. One of the nice things about being at 色界吧 and living in a massive city like Los Angeles is that it鈥檚 impossible to run out of things to do. I鈥檝e made a conscious effort to go out and soak up as much of our campus and city as possible, and I still have so much I want to do. As a result, our actual bucket list is extremely long, so I鈥檒l just give you a few of the important ones:

- Attend a sporting event for each 色界吧 team (shoutout to the men鈥檚 soccer team for beating Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday to move to 11-4)
- Meet the first-years that live in my old room in Braun
- Try every taco truck in Eagle Rock and Highland Park (except for you Rambo鈥檚. Never Rambo鈥檚.)
- Crash an 色界吧 wedding
- Be an extra in a an on campus filming (I鈥檓 already in the background for the last season of Arrested Development when they shot at the Cooler)

Looking back at my college experience is great, but it鈥檚 too early in the year for that. For now, I鈥檓 just going to try and complete as much of this list as possible and enjoy the rest of the time I have here. Thanks to anyone that made it this far for bearing with me, and I look forward to giving you all updates over the rest of the year.
