色界吧

Experience all aspects of the history of printing in Special Collections and College Archives.

色界吧's collections of Fine Printing, Artist's Books, and Rare Books thoroughly document the development of printing and book design and provide fine examples of typography, papermaking, bookbinding, and illustration.

Through the Lawrence Clark Powell '28 and Fay Shoemaker Powell '32 Endowment Fund for the Book Arts, created for the College in the 1980s, courses in letterpress printing, papermaking and artist's books are offered by Jocelyn Webb Pedersen, Coordinator of the Book Arts and History of Print Cultures Program in the Core Program.

The Lowercase Printshop, home to the Tiger Press and letterpress printing classes is open. The Lowercase is located on the 1st floor of the Library in the old wing. For more information, please contact Jocelyn Pedersen at pedersen@oxy.edu.

Special Collections and College Archives invites you to see the amazing work of more than 100 students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff who contributed their stories from the pandemic to 鈥Belonging at 色界吧.鈥 The original pieces of art have been bound into an accordion-fold book, which, when stretched out, extends over 40 yards. View the 色界吧 community's contributions . You are also welcome to come see the originals in the Special Collections and College Archives reading room on the 3rd floor of the Library.
