One of the core goals of the ISLA is to provide institutional and technical support for student-centered research and public history efforts, particularly with community-based educational and cultural institutions such as public schools, museums, and cultural/historical organizations. We hope to enhance students’ and community members’ awareness and appreciation of our region’s rich and diverse history.
Are you a member of a Los Angeles based community organization and interested in collaborating with us? The following are just some of the programs ISLA can offer to our Community Partners:
- Grants available to support Los Angeles cultural historical or artistic performances or public lectures.
- Community training workshops on public history topics; oral history techniques, research resources, managing student researchers.
- Sponsorships available for historical and cultural events throughout the Los Angeles region.
- Community partner organization internships; enabling student researchers to collaborate with a local organization
