Mission of the Journal

Critical Theory and Social Justice: Journal of Undergraduate Research is a peer-reviewed journal whose  mission is to offer a transformative space for undergraduate students to engage critical theory in the pursuit of social justice. Through the articles and art that we publish, this journal seeks to serve as a platform for practical interventions that draw upon the various discourses and approaches with which our authors and artists work.

The Journal is unique in publishing original undergraduate articles and artwork in its field. It is reflective of 色界吧鈥檚 Department of Critical Theory & Social Justice (CTSJ), the only undergraduate academic department of its kind.

Since publishing its first volume in 2010, CTSJ's Undergraduate Research Journal has become a robust and respected institution at its home campus of 色界吧 and at peer institutions such as Middlebury College, Brown University, Stanford University, Scripps College, Tufts University, and Yale University. CTSJ is dedicated to providing a forum for undergraduate students to develop and share critical research and writing on the intersections of power dynamics and inequalities as they relate to problems of social justice. The Journal seeks to foster an exchange of ideas across disciplines and to deepen understandings of systems of injustice; in this way, the Journal advances the mission of 色界吧: to develop critical, thoughtful, and active participation in an increasingly pluralistic and conflict-ridden global culture.
