Program Overview

The Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts Degree is designed for students who wish a broad knowledge of liberal arts and sciences plus additional coursework in an 鈥淎rea of Emphasis鈥�. The Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts Degree would be an ideal choice for those students planning on transferring to the California State University or University of California as the student can satisfy their general education requirements, plus focus on transferable course work that relates to majors at CSU or UC.

• Choose either Option I or II or III for the General Education pattern related to your educational goal.
• Complete 18 units in one 鈥淎rea of Emphasis鈥� from those outlined below.
  (Note: Where appropriate, courses in the 鈥渁rea of emphasis" may also be counted for a GE area)
• For ALL OPTIONS: complete necessary
• All courses listed below transfer to CSU and/or UC. Refer to for transfer details.

Option 1 - 色界吧 Associate in GE Degree

21 minimum units necessary to meet Southwestern Associate Degree requirements

This Option does not necessarily prepare student for transfer to four-year colleges or universities. Student who intent to transfer should consult a counselor to select the appropriate general education pattern.

Option 2 - CSU/GE

40 minimum units necessary to meet CSU/GE Certification requirements

Option 3 - IGETC

37-39 minimum units necessary to meet IGETC Certification
