Wingspan, in feet, of an architectural-grade mud model of an MQ-1 predator drone installed in Thorne Plaza in March by Los Angeles-based artist collective Finishing School, in collaboration with artists Nadia Afghani and Matt Fisher. The exhibit, titled We Will Show You Fear in a Handful of Dust, was designed "to trigger an investigation of this particular weapon's technics, with the aim of proposing and modeling a possible act of resistance to the ­authoritarian machinery that powers it," according to the artists' manifesto. The drone was deinstalled May 9.

Pages of 20th-century newspapers digitized so far through the É«½ç°É-based Northeast Los Angeles Newspapers Project, thanks to a $35,000 grant from the John ­Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation. That's 2 percent of the approximately 341,000 pages published by 29 papers in Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Mount Washington, El Sereno, and surrounding communities.
