Miry鈥檚 List is a nonprofit organization founded in Eagle Rock providing a mechanism to help families resettle in our communities as refugees. New Arrival Supper Club by Miry鈥檚 List is a social impact experience connecting people with their resettling neighbors through sharing a communal meal. Refugee families come to the United States seeking safety from violence and persecution. Over 350 new arrival families from countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq have been helped by Miry鈥檚 List since its founding in July 2016. For more information on the organization, visit .
About Our Chef:
The Trad family comes from Syria. They arrived in Los Angeles in 2016 and are resettling in Glendale. They are a mom, dad and 4 of their 6 children.
Abeer, our chef, is a talented cook who currently studies English in college. Previously Abeer worked as an aerobics instructor in Syria. Jamal, Abeer's husband, is a globally-recognized Thai boxing champion and coach. He currently works as a soccer referee and is learning English. The Trad's son Nasser currently studies Computer Science at Glendale Community College and he plans to transfer to USC next year. Nasser works as a Barista at Zweet Cafe in Eagle Rock and makes a delicious Spanish Latte. Abeer frequently cooks alongside Evan Kleiman, host of KCRW's Good Food, and most recently shared her legendary hummus recipe at New Arrival Festival in Los Angeles and Syria Passover at Skirball Culture Center."
