色界吧

SWC CARES Basic Needs is a safety net of assistance and resources intended to support students experiencing housing, food, transportation, and financial insecurities.  Students must only be enrolled in at least 1 class (credit or non-credit) to be eligible for Basic Needs Assistance.

Shower facilities are located in the SWC Field House, Building 1700, Room H103 (women) and H107 (men) on the Chula Vista campus. Shower facilities are open to use by homeless students from Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm during the Fall and Spring semesters. During Winter and Summer sessions, shower facilities are open during the hours of operation of the Field House. Please call (619) 216-6626 for more information.

Students under the age of 25 who are homeless when they attend SWC are eligible for priority enrollment. A student needs to be able to verify that they are homeless by either:

• a letter from a homeless services provider;
• a letter from a federal TRIO program; or
• Homelessness or at-risk determination from the Financial Aid homeless liaison.

The SWC Child Development Center, Family Studies Department and Associated Student Organization (ASO) began the Jag Kitchen Food Pantry to assist students facing food insecurity. Now, a campus wide effort, the Jag Kitchen is a safe and judgment-free zone that can be used by currently enrolled SWC students needing assistance. Since the inception of the Jag Kitchen in the Chula Vista campus in 2016, Jag Kitchenettes were made in Higher Education Centers in San Ysidro and National City!

The Jag Kitchen is located in Room 554 on the Chula Vista campus. Donations are accepted at the SWC Child Development Center Bldg. 2000 & Room 554, year-round. While we do have a donation item list that our students are always in need of, monetary donations are also accepted and much appreciated.

SWC Students with a valid SWC identification card.
No eligibility forms or proof of income is necessary.

The 色界吧 Cares Student Emergency Grant has been created by the Associated Student Organization (ASO) and the 色界吧 Foundation to provide assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies. This assistance is intended to help students stay in school and meet their educational goals, ultimately securing a better financial future for themselves and their families.

Eligibility Criteria

• Be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units
• Be facing a verifiable, documented and unforeseen financial emergency
• Not have previously received a SWC Cares Student Emergency Grant
• Submit an SWC Cares Application - Located under the Emergency Assistance section
