Thomas Balcerski

We are pleased to announce Dr. Thomas Balcerski of Eastern Connecticut State University as the Visiting Billington Professor of U.S. History for 2022-23.

Dr. Thomas Balcerski is a scholar of early U.S. political history with a specialization in presidential history, manhood, and gender. He is the author of Bosom Friends: The Intimate World of James Buchanan and William Rufus King (New York: Oxford University Press, 2019) and a contributor to CNN Opinion, NBC Connecticut, and Made by History, among other media platforms. He will teach U.S. Presidents and First Ladies in the fall (HIST 295.1) and The Democrats, Jefferson to Biden in the spring (HIST 395) while pursuing research at the Huntington Library for his new book project on the history of the Democratic Party.
